Whole Foods is Open in Oxnard

Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post for Whole Foods Market Oxnard.

The Oxnard Whole Foods Market is now open ~ located at 650 Town Center Drive (in The Collection shopping center). Not only is it an incredibly beautiful store, it is well laid out and offers products from more than 100 local vendors!

First, the building itself!  As I walked in I was incredibly impressed by the size and design of the space. It was clear they spent a lot of time thinking about making the design fit the community - agriculture and beach community! There were beautiful patterns and colors, I loved the bright orange and blues in the main sign -Reminded me of the ocean...

Coconut Curry Slow Cooker Chicken

Disclaimer: I was given free access to this program in return for blog posts. All opinions are my own.

Last week I wrote about how much I loved the Coconut Curry Slow Cooker Chicken as part of the Revolt Fitness plan. I promised to give you the recipe, so here it is! It is simple, healthy and yummy!

real food, slow cooker chicken,

Ingredients:
1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breast
1 tablespoon curry powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1/2 cup thinly sliced white onion
1/2 cup thinly slice red bell pepper
1/2 cup organic chicken broth
1 14 oz. can lite cocnut milk
capers

Put in slow cooker on high for 3 hours.
Serve over 1/2 cup basmati rice, garnish with capers.
Serve!

I'm amazed that every week there are great recipes to keep things interesting! This week I'm eating BBQ chicken with sweet potato fries and lava cakes ~ while still losing weight and building muscle.

Del Taco's Buck & Under and New Taste Menus!

Disclaimer: I was compensated for this post, all opinions are mine.

OK, I may be obsessing a bit about food this week. I'm on a sugar detox right - which is surprisingly tasty, but still, makes me think about all the other things I could be eating!

One day a week, I get a "cheat" day. This week I'm *dreaming* about eating Del Taco on my cheat day :) I love Del Taco. When I lived on the East coast, I frequently lamented the lack of Del Taco. Now that I am back in California, I am happy to be able to eat it again (though I did find out that Del Taco has more than 550 restaurants in 18 states)!

So I was excited to see that they are announcing a Buck & Under and New Tastes Menu. Starting this Wednesday, they will be offering Free Food Wednesdays from 3-9 pm. See below for details!

“Our new menu has given our current fans a new reason to believe in all that we have to offer at Del Taco,” said John Cappasola, Chief Brand Officer at Del Taco. “And, we’re seeing new customers giving us a try and finding out how positively different Del Taco is from everything else that is out there.”

To win a $10 gift card for Del Taco, leave a comment telling me your favorite menu item! I'll pick a winner at random on May 13th - just in time for you to enjoy the New Tastes Free Food Wednesdays.

RULES: A winner will be selected randomly using random.org, please make sure you leave a valid email address.  Giveaway ends midnight May 13, 2013.  US residents only. Good Luck!

Happy Monday - Happy Food!

Food that makes me happy? Truth? Donuts!!!

Donuts make me happy...but so does cheese, french toast, fresh strawberries (still warm from the sun!), french fries, a crisp green apple, bacon, peanut butter and chocolate milkshakes, kefir, dried apricots and pretty much any fresh fruit.

Now I realize that I cannot grow bacon or french toast in my garden :-(  but I can grow some very yummy, very healthy, fruits and veggies. So that's my plan to add some happiness to my life through food! I have already planted strawberries, carrots, blackberries, mint and some green onions. When it gets a little warmer I am planning on adding some lettuce, tomatoes and herbs to the mix. Any additional suggestions would be much appreciated!

Not only will I get to have happy food on my table, but my son loves to garden with me (maybe he just like playing in the dirt?). That is a wonderful, happy side benefit that I look forward to!

So what food makes you happy? Link up any relevant post about food, recipes, restaurants - the sky's the limit (or just comment if you don't blog)! Grab the button, link up and check out some other posts. Thanks for stopping by for week 2 of Happy Monday!

Is a hotdog a hotdog?

Months ago A was having trouble switching over to solids, the pediatrician suggested hotdogs. Bingo. A was in love.

He has had veggie dogs, chicken dogs, turkey dogs...

...and recently he had his first beef dog...and I accidentally had a bite too. I say accidentally, since I don't eat red meat (other than bacon sometimes...), so I have no idea when the last time I ate cow was.

What I realized...the beef hotdog was SO SO much better than any of the other hotdogs I've (I mean A) tried recently. It was a Chicago-dog, served at a wedding lunch, so I'm sure it was high quality, but seriously - so.much.better. Was it the hotdog or just beef in general? Have I been missing out for the last almost-20 years?

Wow, 19 years. That just hit me. I may have had little bits of beef in things that I couldn't avoid, but 99% - no beef since I was 16.

Anyway, I think that was A's first beef as well. He wanted to eat two hotdogs. Beef must agree with him...I'll have to see about adding some more to his diet!

Food, Oh the food of SF

Last month I had a work trip to San Fransisco - the company was great, the training excellent, but the food, the food was AMAZING. I sort of forgot what it was like to be able to lounge around really enjoying food at restaurants. So for your viewing pleasure...my San Fransisco food...
