Another Way to Stay Fit? Walk your Dog!

You may know that we have an awesome dog named Moose! He's a mellow hound-shepard mix from the Durham animal shelter - named after a beer and a fire. He kept me sane during graduate school and has been with me longer than I've been with my husband :) We spent many a great hike in the Duke Forest, we've traveled cross country multiple times, we've been through a lot together.

I've been good recently about keeping myself in shape and making sure that A loved to exercise! However, I definitely feel guilty - Moose is not benefiting from my new exercise regime!  Since A was born, Moose has not received the attention he once got. He was booted out of the room, doesn't always get a daily walk (I know, I know I'm horrible!), and doesn't always get to go on trips to the park anymore :( I have been trying to make it up to him!

I am aiming to change that! I found the Purina® Pro Plan® Fitness Group Page website. They are currently having a challenge - it started on 9/30 and ends 11/13! It's a challenge to walk your dog every day for 30 days. It doesn't have to be a long walk - but get out there and walk ~ it'll be good for both you and your dog!

So sign up! When you sign up you are automatically entered in a contest to win great prizes! So what have you got to lose? Purina® ProPlan® has partnered with MapMyFitness and created the Purina® ProPlan® Fitness Group Page to get pet owner’s more active with their dogs.  Check out the Fitness Group page here and start getting active with your dog today!

  1. My dog and I go on daily walks. All I have to do is say the word walk and he goes nuts! Spinning, barking and yapping so loud! It is definitely a motivation when you have those little eyes looking at you begging to get out and get active!
