Our first Summer Vacation - Sequoia and King's Canyon National Parks. We had an amazing time. It really is a gorgeous place and so, so many less people than Yosemite! There was a huge "tunnel" - otherwise known as a cave, rivers, big rocks, big trees, bee-bug (caterpillars), cars, bears, deer...everything a two year old could want! There was also great hiking, beautiful views, stunning sunsets and everything adults would want!
Highlight? You might think it was the bear we saw, crystal cave or maybe the tree we got to drive through, or possibly the huge tree trunk we got to climb on top of. Nope. For the little guy? Seeing a deer pee. Yep, very, very exciting. Followed closely by hearing "7 ate 9" for the first time. For me? Coffee at the little store next to the visitor center. I needed that coffee! Followed closely by the amazing lighting through the giant sequoias. Oh, and my little guy getting his very first Jr. Ranger Badge! We even got a two mile hike through sequoias all to ourselves...
We stayed down by the Ash Mountain entrance, so had quite a trek each day up to the big trees. I'd recommend staying in the campgrounds or the lodge. We had lunch at the lodge and they were very sweet to the little guy. Definitely make it to the Mark Twain stump...it's incredible! ...and "this big!"
I love National Parks and am excited to have shared two more with the little guy! It wasn't too bad of a drive - though we did seem to be in Visalia forever... We found a great taco place and frozen yogurt, so I guess it wasn't too bad a drive!
Not sure what park is next on the list...any suggestions?
Pretty cool pictures!
