I also realize that recently I have not been so good at reading all the books that come into my home - either bought or borrowed books. This weekend I counted the parenting books that I have in my home. I am a little hesitant to share this overwhelming number.
Currently, I have 42 books on parenting/children/education in my house.
Some of this many, many books |
I know, I know - too many. One would think I'm an expert by now (haha). Now, some of these are library books and will only remain here for a few weeks, but most of them are permanent residents on my bookshelf. I have therefore decided that I need to do something about these books.
I am going to start a series on Wednesdays reviewing these books. I actually already started with How to Raise an Amazing Child and Simplicity Parenting :) But I decided I needed to keep myself accountable, so I'm doing the equivalent of shouting from the rooftops - letting you know my intentions!
I hope you find something interesting! Let me know if I'm missing any important books...so I can add them to my list :)
Can not wait to see what you find, I used to read all the books and like most parents ran out of time for everything. It will be good to see which ones are useful.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your reviews on these books!
ReplyDeleteGoodreads also has a yearly reading challenge. I did it for 2012 and though I did not read as many as I hoped - it did inspire me to burn through that book pile a little faster than I would have without. Maybe you should join for 2013. :)

Ill definitely check that out! Thanks :)
DeleteWhat a great idea! I love hearing parenting advice. I can take what I like and leave the rest. I find that the longer I'm a mom, the less I know!
ReplyDeleteWow that parenting book collection is huge! Now I know who to run to when I start pulling my hair with regards to parenting :D
ReplyDeleteDo you have 1-2-3 Magic? That's a must have!
ReplyDeleteNope! Off to buy no. 43 :)
DeleteWhile I think all these sound wonderful I would add a few Nutrition books. So often we worry about how we sculpt and manage being a mom, but so many moms don't know anything about eating right for them selves and their kids. WE get so busy and think All food is food. I would recommend Making Babies by Shoshanna Easling, Smart Medicine for a Healthier Child by Janet Zand, and Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon :-) Other wise you have a collection!
ReplyDeleteThank you! The only nutrition book I have is Child of Mine and it's aimed at the first few years - so I will definitely check those out!
