Southern CA - downpour indoors

This past week has been a little insane for me.

Water being funneled from the roof to buckets
One of many reasons is that it started raining in my office. Yes, raining...indoors. They are installing solar panels on the roof (good), but had not thought to waterproof the roof before the season's first rain came (bad).

So last Wednesday when I arrived at work (late due to a late night ER visit the night before, a story for another day), everyone was running around throwing tarps on desks and finding buckets.

I have been out of my office since last Wednesday. My co-workers and staff did an amazing job covering everything and trying to keep things dry and have been so understanding about working in less than ideal situations (in random places across the park). We have had to close the park's visitor center, but it is open today! So maybe I can start keeping up with work again...I hope...

Our Visitor Center
We also got some press (not that this is what you want to get press about!)...here is the article.

While I am always trying to reach new audiences to let them know about how cool the Santa Monica Mountains are, I'd rather it not be about leaking roofs!
