Last month A had color week at school. Thursday was favorite
color day. When I asked A on Tuesday what color he wanted to wear for Favorite
Color day, he said pink.
Now, there is nothing wrong with pink, I shouldn’t even
think twice about it, it is just a color. But in our society, pink is for
girls. He is already very conscious about things that are for girls – such as
singing “Let it Go” or any song where there is no boy part.
I don’t care in the slightest if he wears pink – but society
does. As a mom, I worry about him, whether kids will make fun of him, and if
he’ll understand or feel hurt. How weird is it that a color can make me anxious

I was recently introduced to a small company called Quirkie kids – they make pink kids clothes – for boys and girls (or should I say
unisex). We received a t-shirt that A just loves. It’s a dinosaur shirt in
pink. What a great idea – to put non-traditional designs that either gender can
wear on pink!
Though, by favorite color day, he’d changes his mind 4 times and ultimately went with the orange shirt…oh well! I let him wear whatever color he chooses!
Please check out Quirkie kids shirts – they are not only
cute and well made, but I really think it’s important that everyone can enjoy
pink without worrying about it!
Discliamer: I received a free shirt in exchange for a
review. All opinions are my own!
