The Opposite of Maybe

We all make choices in life. We all make decisions, choices, good, bad. We make mistakes, we fix mistakes. We learn, we choose not to learn. We live, love, explore.

When I reflect on my life so far, I feel incredibly lucky.

I currently have an amazing husband. He is smart, funny and a great father. I am the mother of a creative, funny, sweet and loving boy. I am pregnant with our second child. I can feel this child doing somersalts on a daily basis. I love the butterfly feeling, right now its just me and this baby, connected in a way I'll never be connected to anyone ever again.

I've travelled to 47 states, four continents. I've been a Peace Corps volunteer, hiked the Inca Trail, swum with penguins and sea lions in the Galapagos, I've crossed German mudflats on foot, I've run a half marathon, I've held my newborn in my arms, I've ridden a horse drawn carriage through old town Alexandria.

I've watched leatherbacks lay eggs on Costa Rican beaches, I've skinny-dipped in two oceans, I've walked on Black sand beaches and through Ancient Greek cities, I've been to Dracula's castle, slept in very strange places in many countries, I lived through seven college roommates, I've made and lost many great friends over the years.

People I love have been sick, have passed away, have left my life. I have a strong, amazing grandmother, an extended family who will always be there for me, two strong and beautiful sisters, loving parents who turned into incredible grandparents.

I didn't always do things the easy way, I've shed many tears and hurt many feelings. I want to believe I've also caused joy and created happy memories.

Life is good. Life is unexpected. Life is full of happiness and surprises around every corner.

This post was inspired by the novel  The Opposite of Maybe by Maddie Dawson. At the age of 44, Rosie finds herself suddenly single and pregnant. She tries to hide in her grandmother’s home, but meets two men that will change her life forever. Join From Left to Write on April 8 we discuss The Opposite of Maybe. As a member, I received a copy of the book for review purposes.
