Today...not so sure! I'm having serious doubts. I haven't kept up to my training plan as well as I'd like. The furthest I've run is 8 miles and I have to run 13.1~that's a lot. I ran a 10k two weeks ago and my knees and heel were sore afterwards. I'm just not sure that I can do it...any encouraging words???
I did try out my compression socks on my long run...I've been coveting them for some time now. Luckily, I was offered a pair for review by Lunatik Athletiks!
It's seems Compression sportswear is the latest craze for runners. They are supposed to help with muscle recovery and look awesome too :) I'm not sure how cool I looked in them, but theory goes that compression socks, sleeves etc. help with blood circulation, warmth and helps the muscles recover faster. All I know, is that I was not the slightest bit sire after running eight miles...awesome. The pair I have is "Hot Rockin Dots" - they carry eight designs of compression socks, as well as compression sleeves, running skirts and more.
I love the material - the designs and now totally covet a matching running skirt....how cool would I look then?
If I fail miserably at my half marathon, at least I'll look awesome in my socks!!

Disclosure: I received product for review, all options are my own.
You can definitely do it!! Don't doubt yourself. And besides - if worst comes to worst, just speed walk the last few miles... you'll still get to the finish!!
ReplyDeleteJust push those doubts aside, I bet you'll do awesome!!!!
ReplyDeleteEven if your longest run has only been 8, you'll still be fine! Since you still have 4 weeks, you could always try for a 10 miler sometime over the next 2 weeks:) After that, you'll find the confidence you need, because 13.1 isn't that much further than 10, right:)
But like the other comment, if worst comes to worst, you can always walk a little as needed. But I think you'll find the adrenalin you'll have race day alone will be enough to get you 13.1 even if your longest run before was 8... Good luck!!!
You can do this! You still have four weeks and I'm guessing you will do at least one more long(er) run before the half. You can always walk part if you need to.
ReplyDeleteIt really messes with your head when you have a bad run shortly before a race, but just think of it this way - you're getting the bad run out of the way so all the goodness will go toward your race!
ReplyDeleteI also LOVE compression socks. I thought they were bs until I invested in a pair of Pro Compression and my calves didn't hurt at all the day after my long run. SO worth it.
Hi I found your site through the fitness Friday link up! Of course you'll be able to do it- especially since you still look pretty fresh and happy after running 8 miles! The socks are super snazzy by the way...I'm very envious :)
ReplyDeleteLove the socks! You're going to rock the 13.1!
