As A gets closer to his 2nd birthday (how on earth is this possible?), I have started thinking about what I should do with his room. I love his "nursery" but know that some changes need to occur as he gets older. I've also been reading different books about educational philosophies, living more simply and enjoying every moment.
Right now A's room seems fairly calming to me. The walls are light blue, he has light furniture, a wall decal, soft light, lots of books, some toy bins and a crib. He has wall art of animals, numbers and a photo of mom and dad. His closet is a little busy, including more books, clothes and toys. Almost everything is reachable to a nearly 2 year old.

I'm trying to keep things simple, calming and fun. I want him to enjoy his room - maybe I should add things he likes: pictures of Trucks? Horses? Letters? I also want him to feel secure and safe there. I don't plan on painting, but could change up the art, bedding etc. I'm in need of some advice! When do I move him from the crib to the toddler bed? Do I keep the glider or set up a reading "nook?" Do I pare down his books even more?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! :)
You could easily translate this book to a 2 year older. Just adds some of the trucks or things he likes. I'd keep the books! I always loved it that the kids could pull out books as easily as other toys. I just kept the special ones put up higher than they could reach lol.... I also love your calming blue!
ReplyDeleteI love that rug! I think I would definitely keep that when you decide on how you want to change things up. My daughter is 15 now, so I am old and can't remember, lol, but I think she was in a toddler bed at about 2.

I am horrible at decorating so I am no use on this one. I do love the tree on the wall though! Kids grow up so quick:(
ReplyDeleteLove the rug and the tree, the color walls I thin are great. Now this is coming from a Nana, but I love decorating rooms, I would keep the rug, tree and all color and get bedding that still works with it, use accents pillows ect., of what he loves, trucks and what not. He's young and will have many years to have alot of "boy" decorations. Just ease into it...
ReplyDeleteI love that tree! I think you can transition hime to a toddler bed soon. A reading nook sounds like a greta idea. My 2 year old loves books!
ReplyDeleteThat room is too cute... I would not want to change it . lol I say wait awhile until he becomes around 5 or so. By then he will want a big boy room complete with Batman or whatever else he is into.
ReplyDeleteThat room is gorgeous!!! So pretty and organized! I'm jealous!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful room, I think the sun would look good in there, too ;)
