Cancer, in particular, seems to affect way too many people that I care about. Just this morning, the wife of one of my favorite people at work passed away. My heart goes out to my co-worker and his family. Those that I love have been touched my some of the toughest diseases out there, and due to that I support organizations that work to find cures, support those living with the illness and educate the world about what can be done.
Melanoma Research Foundation - The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) is the largest independent, national organization devoted to melanoma in the United States. Committed to the support of medical research in finding effective treatments and eventually a cure for melanoma, the MRF also educates patients and physicians about prevention, diagnosis and the treatment of melanoma. The MRF is an active advocate for the melanoma community, helping to raise awareness of this disease and the need for a cure. The MRF's website is the premier source for melanoma information seekers.
Hosparus (Hospice in KY an IN) - They help people face end-of-life issues with as much care and thought as any other milestone in life so they can enjoy the best quality of life possible. Hospice and palliative care relieves suffering when a cure for an illness is not expected. It involves treatments that enhance a patient's comfort and quality of life. The folks in Louisville showed much kindness to someone I admired, so thank you!
National Multiple Sclerosis Society - The National MS Society is a collective of passionate individuals who want to do something about MS now—to move together toward a world free of multiple sclerosis. MS stops people from moving. They exist to make sure it doesn't. The Society helps people affected by MS by funding cutting-edge research, driving change through advocacy, facilitating professional education, and providing programs and services that help people with MS and their families move their lives forward.
