Milestones

When your baby is young, it's all about milestones.

People are constantly (and I mean every conversation you ever have) asking about what it is your child is now doing...and whether he is early or late or right on time.

The real answer is - My child is right on time. He is always right on time, because each child is different.

However, when I answer what he is doing, it never fails that I get a response based on relative time. So far, he is way ahead of the game in crawling, standing, walking...People congratulate me, like it something I have won. Now, I do admit to shamelessly loving the fact that he is so far ahead in these areas (I am a little competitive). But do I deserve congratulations? no.

What I do deserve congratulations for...the following milestones...

Early propensity for modeling

Jungle gym prowess

Extreme Laundry Skills

Light saber skills
Next step - light saber while standing (foam piece for practice)

Early Entrepreneurial Spirit

No, but in semi-seriousness... since I have been accustomed to him picking up on things early...I am now overly worried about his waving ability. Yes, that is right, my son is 9 months old and doesn't know how to wave. A minor thing, you say? Why yes, but also the newest question that I must ALWAYS answer.

Is he waving yet? "Bye, Bye" - oh wait, he doesn't know how to wave? Can he clap yet (no)...oh, I'm sure he will soon.

Did I mention he is working on walking? At 9 months? I think his mental capacity is all being used on important things - like walking? Waving, that is only for babies (oh wait, he is a baby)...

...you can see how this can spiral out of control rather quickly. So officially...

My child is right on time, each child will meet milestones in their own good time!

(now off to work on waving....)

Thanks to Mama G at Growing up Geeky for the milestone idea!
