My goal for the week. Plan ahead. Find menu planning options.
One thing I have done in the past...Dream Dinners. These are places where they have all the ingredients out, they tell you how much to put in plastic bags, and then you mix them, and freeze them. They are pretty good, easy but very pricey.
Another thing I have done is join a CSA and get a box of veggies for the week...but we just can't keep up with the sheer number of veggies.
So what do I do now? As a working mom, I don't have lots of time, I want to eat healthier, I want to provide my family with food that is good for them. I need help! Please?
I do get some great veggies from my garden (yum, strawberries!)...but not enough to change my eating habits...
I really wish I knew how to meal plan. I am seriously lacking at this. I really want to do the whole put the meal into a ziploc baggies and use it for the crockpot. I might need to do something like that.
ReplyDeleteMy only tip is to narrow your choices about what to make.
ReplyDeleteWe do fish on Monday, soup on Tuesday, beans on Wednesday, and pasta on Thursday. Somehow, even though I/we still have to cook, it's easier when we know what we're going to make. I've got 3-4 easy standby recipes in each category that we rotate, and I'll occasionally throw a new one in as well.
We're flexible about when we actually cook - if Allen has a rainout on Wednesday for example, we might go out to eat and cook on Thursday and Friday instead. The nights that aren't defined (Fri, Sat, Sun) are usually leftovers and/or eating with friends.
Oh, P.S. we do leftovers from dinner the night before for lunch the next day. And I usually try to cook things that Lu will eat as well to simplify feeding her... Though some nights that means all she ends up eating is fruit and toast. :)
