15 months and counting

I've been reading lots of books lately. Lots of books about what to expect in the next few months and years. I almost started crying yesterday while reading a chapter about toddlers aged 18 months to 3 years.

I know, I do, that starting the moment he was born, that he's been moving away from me. I know that I need to give him the tools to grow, to run, to soar. But I don't want to lose my little sweetie.

The book I was reading mentioned how they start to move away from their moms, and want to emulate their dads. That little boys learn and grow by separating themselves from their moms. Just the idea of that makes my heart hurt a little. I'm not ready for my little guy to grow up. I'm not even ready for him to go down the big-kid slide.

How do even deal with this? How can I even think about it? I want to go in an wake him up right now and scoop my baby into a big hug. So not ready for him to grow up....

My little guy looking so big :(

  1. I never really thought about it. At this point with my son my husband was staying home and I was back to work so I chalked it up to them spending time together. My son is a daddy's boy but when he's upset or has an owie it's all about mama!

    1. I know the boys are lucky to have great dads, it's just hard to see them grow UP :) I know my arms will always be open to make him feel better!

  2. While boys do tend to want to emulate their dad's, rest assured that they don't distance themselves from their moms. My boys, oldest is almost 9, still come to me for cuddles, and ask me to spend time with them at night. I lay down with them and they tell me about their lives, and they don't do those things with Dad. My middle child even likes to make play dough jewelry and put on my heels, then talk in what he thinks sounds like my voice. Shh, I didn't tell you that. ;o) LOL No matter how big they get, there are still things that boys need their mom for. I am stopping by from @Home Take 2 blog hop. I have three little boys and I talk about parenting hyper active boys, I would love to have you stop by sometime! http://thetriplebs.blogspot.com/
